These two images below show the amount of wine and spirits given to each patient at Hill End on a weekly basis. The book’s earliest date starts on August 5th 1900 and ends on September 7th 1903.
Although wine is listed as one of the alcoholic drinks given, the book has no recordings for wine being given to any patient during the 3 years.
Here is a list of the drinks given to patients:
- brandy
- gin
- ale
- wine
- porter
- stout
The book contains female patients only, and most patients were given a daily average of 2oz of a specific drink. However the amount of drink was inconsistent for many patients, and they were sometimes given more or less each week.
