Harperbury Hospital

Twisting by the pool!

In the 1970s I played in a rock ‘n’ roll band at Harperbury staff social club. It was a sunny Summer Sunday lunchtime and through the windows of the lounge bar we could see people enjoying themselves in the simming pool as we played our music.

All the psychiatric hospitals in the area were a good source of employment for musical entertainment. The hospitals were quite isolated and therefore all events were well attended by the staff. We musicians were most appreciative for the work that the hospitals provided and we were especially grateful that they always paid cash! 🙂
