My daughter is doing anEPQ studying mental health support now, compared to 100 years ago. Transpires my mother in law had a sister Marion Z who was admitted to Cell Barnes at the age of 7 (1941?) and lived here all her life, until being moved to a very sheltered living accommodation.
Although I only met her on a couple of occasions, it seemed difficult to understand why she was there. Her elderly sister now thinks she had dyslexia and nothing else, just as a result of medication and being institutionalised made her the way she as, it would never happen now?
Would be interested in any insights you can share …..
