Out of Sight Out of Mind? Project

As part of the Out of Sight Out of Mind? project schools workshops have taken place in three local schools.  Year 6 children from Camp JMI and Windermere Schools and Year 8 students from Francis Bacon School took part in workshops led by three artists, Tim Jennings, Eileen Ramsay and Anna Reynolds.

The students looked at the life of people who lived in Hill End Hospital and used written word, art and music to develop their understanding and express their thoughts and feelings about the people who lived and worked at the hospital.  Many of the students had no idea of what once stood in their locality, or indeed even where some of their homes now stood.

The workshops produced some wonderful pieces of work which were presented on a compilation DVD which everyone shared at an event at Francis Bacon School.

The children and staff at all of the schools really enjoyed the workshops and have all commented on how much they have learned about Hill End.
