Out of Sight Project goes into the community

Into the Community

Following on from the hugely successful school workshops the Out of Sight Out of Mind? Project took workshops to the wider community.  Two workshop days were enjoyed by the service users of the St Peter’s Street Day Centre on the 20th and 23rd November 2009.  The people at the workshops were able to use art, creative writing and music to their feelings about their personal experiences.  It was a vibrant and lively set of workshops filled with some wonderful stories and humour.

Workshops

The second two days of workshops were held on 24th & 26th November 2009 at Trestle Arts Base.  These workshops were for all interested parties including people with personal experience of living and working at Hill End Hospital, and local residents with an interest in the history of the place that they live in.

All of the workshops were thoroughly enjoyed by the participants, and Frank Casey from the St Peter’s Street Day Centre has stated that the participants have not stopped talking about the days.

Sharing Day

We are planning a sharing day on January 25th 2010 from 10.00 at Trestle Arts Base for the participants of all of the community workshops to come together to share the work they have produced.  This will also be the opportunity for the wider community to come and find out how to use the scanners to download their memories on to the Out of Sight Out of Mind?  Website.
