You Have to be Mad to Work Here!

Radio 3 investigates the art/madness cliché

The writer A L Kennedy questions the link between creativity and mental illness in this Radio 3 programme. With behaviours occasionally overlapping between artists and mentally ill individuals, she explores whether this is a help or hindrance to creative impulses.

Contributions come from patients and staff at Bethlem Hospital, and artists including the playwright John Byrne, sculptor Cornelia Parker and actor Edward Petherbridge.

[Broadcast on Radio 3, Sunday 22nd April]
